Happy birthday and black history month to Langston Hughes #RIP

What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust over like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it sags like a heavy load. Or does it just explode?

"African-American women have forever enriched our cultural heritage. Today we stand on the shoulders of countless African-American women who shattered glass ceilings and advanced our common goals."

The future is bright…12 year old sophomore at Morehouse.  I love that his mother started a support system for parents to help educate their children, Mocha-Charm

Supportive parenting at-home by more families will assist in what the POTUS wants for our nation’s children.  I wish Ms. Stafford and her son nothing but luck, its a very inspiring story.

"Sometimes I feel discriminated against, but it doesn’t make me angry. It merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company? It’s beyond me."

— Zora Neale Hurston

proud to be an Afro-American, we miss you Malcolm #RIP

Love @nelsongeorge’s work (one of our modern day griots) and as a new-ish but fiercely loyal Brooklyn girl, am fascinated by the history of the borough, particularly of the evolution of Brooklyn and areas like Fort Greene (which for me has always been where I wanted to live, but as you know the rent is too d*mn high).

Congrats on being fully funded Nelson, I hope you continue to get funding to tell stories like these.
