About Me

In 2010 I started Curvy In The City as a means for me to accept myself for who I was now and who I had been.

I was rejected by the plus size community because I wasn’t plus size  enough, but then was reminded by well meaning friends, family and lovers about my weight issue, people who wondered if I wouldn’t be happier if I were a “regular” size.  All this thinking gets to a curvy girl, it makes us feel unfulfilled, unwanted and can often stir up feeling of self loathing.

I felt that I wasn’t alone, that there was a whole community of people who also didn’t fit in to the size paradigm, but who represented a huge segment of our society, and didn’t find anyone really giving voice to that.

Curating this blog made me realize that the issue of weight wasn’t totally about my body, it was more about reforming my mind. It forced me to at least try to really begin to accept the fact that I am pretty fabulous, and I deserve love and happiness without conditions, not only this year but for the rest of my life—-no matter WHAT SIZE I HAPPEN TO BE!

Who Am I?
Originally from Los Angeles, CA but living in Brooklyn, NY since 2005, I’m here to inspire, inform and entertain CURVY GIRLS and friends of CURVY GIRLS alike.

I am equal parts:

hopeless romantic,

natural hair lover,

self proclaimed digital diva,

novice foodie,

beauty product addict,

hip-hop/soul/jazz music obsessed,

sometimes “brooding” Scorpio,

budget semi-fashionista.
